The first smile!

Elana and I were hanging out in bed this morning and I was singing and smiling at her when i got the grin of a lifetime!! she has been doing it all day and i am completely blissed out every time. what a beauty . . .

2 Month Visit

We had our 2-month well visit at the pediatrician yesterday. Everything was stellar--she is in the 50th percentile in height and weight. The only difficult part was when she got the first of her vaccinations. I couldn't take it--I had to leave the room when they stuck her. There really is nothing worse that the scream of pain from an infant. The rest of the day she was extremely fussy, almost inconsolable, but today she is back to her old sweet self again. What a trooper!

She has truly become more aware of her surroundings lately. My favorite thing to do is to change her diaper these days. The reason for that is because she LOVES watching the mobile we have hanging over the changing table. Even though she hasn't smiled at me yet, I have caught some definite grins and giggles as she notices new images above her head. I could watch her for hours. Her whole body exudes joy when she kicks and jutts her limbs about. We will post a video of this soon . . .

Green Festival

We topped off our weekend with a visit to the Green Festival. We had a great time looking at all of the exhibits and helping ourselves to free samples.

Even the "plastic" cups were compostable.

Dinner with Babies

We were over for a delicious falafel dinner at Uncle Aaron's apartment yesterday along with our friend's Susan and Brian and their baby Mariella. Erica and Taryn helped the two little girls get to know each other better.

Summer in Seattle

It was 75 and sunny today! We went for a walk in the woods and spent some time at the beach with our friends Charles, Joy, and Max.

Elana Checks out Holy Names!

Elana and I were in the neighborhood today and we decided to stop in Holy Names Academy to visit my students. She slept through most of it, but my students were still very excited to meet her!

Today we went to Cougar Mountain for a hike with Elana. She had a great time. Look for a video later.

Sitting Down

We had a visit with David, our financial adviser today. We had to sit Elana down and tell her that our budget is going to be very tight for the next few months and that she might not get everything that she wants. For instance, she'll have to wait for that "My Dad's a geek" onesie that we saw in a store today. We did promise her, though, that if she's a good girl, we'll take her to Wisconsin this summer.
