Busy Saturday

We had a nice Saturday. This morning we went to a couple of used baby gear sales that were put on by a couple of preschool co-ops. Elana got some new pajamas and a few summer outfits. She also got a new push toy. She has been going to the open gym at the community center near Uncle Aaron's house and pushing all sorts of carts and cars around. We don't have much room in our house, but we decided to buy her a used musical push toy to get some walking practice at home too. Here's a video of her trying it out:



After the sales, we went to register Elana for a toddler class for next year. What a scene. There are over 40 preschool co-ops in North Seattle alone. Most of them are part of a network that partners with North Seattle Community College. We found a class that meets from 3-5 in the afternoon one day a week. There are 18 kids in the class, each with a parent. Taryn will take her each week starting in September. Then there are monthly parent education classes where she'll earn college credits. The registration was a little crazy. Imagine a room full of a few hundred parents and babies. All of the co-ops were positioned around the room with information about their classes. On the way in, we got a ticket with a number. At 11:00, they started the lottery. When your number gets called, you can go into the back room to register. I felt like I was on the floor of a stock exchange staring up at numbers on the screen.

After Elana's brief 45 minute nap, we headed to VegFest. We (Elana too) ate tons of samples and left the exhibition hall stuffed to capacity. We finished off our afternoon at the Children's Museum. Elana loved every second. Here are some pictures:
