Elana Goes Camping

Last week we camped for 4 nights on the Oregon Coast. Elana had a great time running on the beach and around the campground. Her friend Max and his parents Charles and Joy were 3 campsites over for the first 3 nights. They had a great time playing together. It was a challenge to keep up with her, but worth the effort. Here are some pictures from the week:

On our first full day there we went on a hike. The sun wasn't out, but it was still beautiful. We spent a lot of time at the beach, although the weather was hard to predict. Sometimes it was warm and a little breezy, while other times, it was so windy that Elana could barely stand up. On one of the windy days, we went to the bay side of the park where there was no wind (which made kite flying difficult).

On Tuesday afternoon, we went to Cannon Beach and visited the Farmers Market. There was a band playing (guitar, drums, and didgeridoo). Elana danced to the music with Max.

We stayed at Nehalem Bay State Park, which is only a couple of miles from Manzanita. In the mornings we biked into town (10 minute ride) and had coffee at a great cafe called Bread and Ocean. Taryn and I first went to Manzanita in 2003 - that's when I proposed to her on the top of Neahkahnie Mountain. We were back two summers ago for another camping trip. We love the area and hope to go back for many summers to come. Next year, though, we may upgrade to a yurt.

Here is a montage of video that we shot on our trip. Beware: it's almost 7 minutes long!
